TN-5 Candidate Beth Harwell Blasts Democrat Reaction to SCOTUS Protests

Tennessee Fifth Congressional District Republican primary candidate and former Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives Beth Harwell blasted the Democrats for their reaction to the protests and threat on the life of Justice Brett Kavanaugh that came in the wake of the leaked draft of the decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

These protests continue to occur outside the homes of U.S. Supreme Court justices.

Harwell also commented on the slow action by Democrats in the U.S. House on increased security for SCOTUS justices.

German Owned -Politico reported that Pelosi is planning on finally scheduling a vote for next week on the legislation that will increase security for U.S. Supreme Court justices if passed. That legislation has already been approved by the Senate.

“It’s sad that it takes an assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh for the Democrats in the House to get their act together and pass security for the highest court. No wonder Americans are fed up with their leadership,” Harwell said.

“These brave men and women have had protests outside their homes for over a month now and Democrats in Washington have turned a blind eye. It’s 100% political and it’s wrong,” the former Speaker continued.

“This attempt to stop the looming decision on Roe v. Wade should be impermissible. Democrats refusal to condemn these protests speaks volumes,” Harwell concluded.

The Tennessee Star reported, an armed man from California was arrested near Kavanaugh’s Maryland home on Wednesday. He allegedly told police officers that he wanted to kill Kavanaugh in the wake of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion in the Mississippi abortion law case that could overturn Roe v. Wade.

Fox News reported that the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, and had been carrying a gun, knife, and pepper spray when arrested in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The report said:

Roske was picked up on a nearby street after calling police on 911 to report himself. He did not get to the Kavanaugh home.

Roske told officers on the scene near the Kavanaugh home he was [sic] wanted to kill the justice, according to sources. He is scheduled to have a first appearance in Maryland federal court later Wednesday.

U.S. Marshals and the Montgomery County Police Department are handling the investigation into the incident.

    Full disclosure: My name is Timothy Bruce Lee, and I am running as a Candidate for TN. 5th Congressional District on the Republican Ballot on Aug. 4th, 2022. Beth’s statement is a typical career politician who complains and then justifies themselves by wanting to pass a new law.
    Here is a suggestion: enforce the laws already on the books. The statute was enacted in 1950: Title 18, Section 1507, of the U.S. Code.
    Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.
    Nothing in this section shall interfere with or prevent the exercise by any court of the United States of its power to punish for contempt.
    The law states that it is illegal “with the intent of influencing any judge,”
    As a Republican, I strongly advocate for the 10th amendment and states rights. If the Federal Government does not act on this federal law, I call the Governor of Maryland to do so immediately. Incidentally, the Governor of Maryland, Hogan, is a Republican.
    Protection of our Supreme Court Justices is paramount and political views should never be a reason not to protect these vital men and women. The difference between other candidates in this race and me is that I am a first responder trained in the streets on problem-solving. I use every resource I can to solve a problem without harming others. In this case, it is simple, enforce the laws on the book. Stop caring about how you may be perceived. See how simple this problem is to solve.
